"I was asked to make sure you knew not to break the seal until after you had spoken with Old Konik, his lordship's steward. Konik is familiar with the process, and won't ask you to open it until after he's told you as much as he can. There is at least one request in the scroll from Lord Vom, I'm sure, and Konik may have his own difficulties with which he might need assistance. If anything Konik is dealing with requires any secrecy, for some reason, he won't share the details until you've opened the seal. However, I'm certain he'll give you a general notion of the risks involved.. probably a bit exaggerated, if I know him." He smiles somewhat wryly.

"I'm glad to see that you're as cautious and thoughtful as Lord Vom felt you were. It bodes well for your success."

Finora, in an effort to help you put your swordarm to use, the Elgenland family has suggested you go into town and speak with one of the retainers of a displaced local lord. The man, named Decken, indeed has an idea for you. He asks you to find a group of adventurers who he believes are about to set out on a task where they could use your help. He takes you to a window, and points out the group, at least two of whom are heading into the bank. "You should be able to catch them there, if you hurry."

Though Finora might not remember who she is, she still has her instincts. There's something she doesn't like about this Decken character...something she doesn't trust. Misgivings aside, though, she figures she'll be safe enough in town to go talk to the party of adventurers that he has recommended for her. Maybe they will be more trustworthy than their employer.

She leaves Decken's office and carefully crosses the street, dodging a man and horse who were apparently in too much of a hurry to stop for pedestrians. She reaches the front of the bank, but decides to wait outside and approach them as they come out, rather than interrupt them as they conduct their business inside. She leans against the building, watching the villagers pass her by.

Finora, you see the group he pointed out, two halflings, a man and a dog, walk out of the bank.

(Thanks for the cue! Although I thought the old joke went, "Two halflings, a man, and a dog walk into a bar..."?)

"So do you trust him?" The party turns to see Finora leaning against the wall behind them. "Decken, I mean."

"My name is Finora the Wolf Slayer. And I ask because Decken suggested I speak with you, to see if you might need an extra blade in your travels." Finora shifts her weight out. "This is the first time I've dealt with the man and, well, I like to know who I'm working for."

"Very nice to meet you all," Finora squats down to let the dog smell her hand "especially you, Cash." She stands again, letting her tough facade drop momentarily. "I'm sorry for my hesitation, I...I just don't know who is friend or foe anymore." She offers a slight smile. "However, if you say Decken appears to be working for a good man, this Lord Vom, then perhaps I can put some faith in his words as well. If you'll have me, I'd like to come along on your journey as Decken suggested. I'm looking to explore this region, as well as shake out some old cobwebs from my bones." She pulls on the sleeve of her chainmail shirt, ensuring the tattoos on her wrist are well covered, even though they were already sufficiently hidden from view.
